November Top Box

I got my first Beauty Box subscription this month, a TopBox!

Unfortunately, it saddens me, but it's also going to be my last one for a while. I'm saving up all my money for moving to Toronto, and even $12 counts. Anyway, I was really excited by the things I got in my box, and still wanted to share.

The first thing that really excited me from this box was a full-size China Glaze polish! The colour is Exotic Encounters from the On Safari collection. It's a lot more green than the picture shows, and is really gorgeous for this time of year. I've already worn it & I love it.

The second product that I was SO excited about was a sample of Benefit's "They're Real" mascara. I've been wanting to try this for a while. It really does live up to expectations, making your lashes so long and lush.

The third product in the box was Cuccio Naturale Butter Blend in the scent Pomegranite & Fig. I'm not too sure about the scent of this - at first I thought it was nice but then I thought it smelled funny, lol. It is really moisturizing though, and feels really nice on dry winter skin.

Last thing is this Roberto Cavalli perfume. I haven't really worn it yet but it smells nice and there's a pretty decent amount included for a sample.

Product Review: Barbie Loves Stila Lip Enamel Luxe Mini Gloss

As much as I love lip products, I'm not a huge fan of lip gloss. They're sticky and you need to re-apply them often ... not things that make me excited. I definitely bought this lip gloss trio purely for the Barbie name, and I'm not ashamed to admit that. :P

Joy; Tickled Pink; Happiness

I was also really intrigued when I read in the description that these glosses contained an ingredient called rhodolea rosea, which is supposed to improve mood and alleviate depression. This definitely makes the names of the colours appropriate!

Onto the actual colours, Joy is a classic red, Tickled Pink is a hot fuscia pink, and Happiness a baby pink - colours you would definitely associate with Barbie, and Valentine's Day for that matter. These are all colours that come in handy for me on a regular basis.

These glosses come in little tubes which you twist up, which releases colour into the brush at the application end. I think Tickled Pink was defective, because it literally exploded everywhere. As for actual application, it's definitely not easy. I really hate these kind of application brushes. What I've been doing is brushing a bit of colour onto my lips (which is always too much) and then spreading it and blending it with a separate lip brush.

Colour payoff is amazing, and definitely live up to the gorgeous colours that are represented in the tubes. I like that if you apply these straight to the lips, they kind of stain the lips and leave a bit of colour even after most of the gloss comes off. However, they are still glosses, and they are still incredibly sticky.

Conclusion? I really like the colours, hate the brush, and still don't like the feel of lip gloss on my lips. I wouldn't buy any more Stila lip glosses.

Nail of the Day: Animalistic

I have another nail of the day for you today, this time some nail art! I've attempted leopard print again, except with different colours this time. The base is "Fast Track" from China Glaze's Hunger Games collection. The pink dots are OPI's "Dusk Over Cairo", and I drew the black bits on with the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black.

I know that this type of leopard print nail art looks really difficult and complicated, but it's actually really easy! If you haven't tried any nail art yet, I challenge you to try it out. Just take your time, and I bet it will turn out better than you expect!

On a side note, I know I haven't been posting very much lately. I wanted to let you all know that I may not be posting much for the next couple months, because I'm moving to Toronto in January and am currently in the process of finding an apartment, packing, and all that other good stuff that comes with moving. Please don't stop following or checking back though, I will still be making posts whenever I can! And once I'm settled I will be back to making regular posts, definitely. :)

I hope you're all having a wonderful fall and that you're keeping warm (if you live somewhere cold, like I do)!

Nail of the Day: White Crackle

This is the first time I was able to use Sally Hansen's Crackle Overcoat in "Snow Blast" successfully. For some reason the first few times I tried it out, it only 'crackled' on a few of the nails! Anyway, I finally got it to work, and I think it creates a really different look which I like. I applied this over OPI "Just Spotted the Lizard" from the Amazing Spider-Man collection, layered over China Glaze "Stone Cold" from the Hunger Games Collection. I like this combination a lot! Can't wait to try this white crackle over lots of different colours - I think it will be perfect for winter!

Product Review: Born Pretty 6pc Waterproof Eyeliner Pencils

I was super excited to recieve this Waterproof Eyeliner Set in the mail the other day from Born Pretty. This set includes 6 eyeliners, including a pearly white, a regular black, and beautiful jewel-toned pink, purple, green, and gold.

The first thing I noticed was the packaging, which was very neat, and very cute. The plastic button up pouch they come in is perfect for storage and also good for traveling. And the lid on each eyeliner is a blue plastic cap that looks like it belongs with some kind of toy or board games (I'm thinking Trolls - anyone remember those things? Haha). So cute!

These are regular pencil eyeliners so they're super easy to use. They're also beautifully pigmented - the coloured ones are so bright, and the white shows up so well. I am definitely impressed with how well these show up on skin and how easily they glide on.

One thing that could be either good or bad is that they do smudge pretty easily. If you're creating a smudged look, it's great. However, I'm not sure they would last all day without smudging. I'm also not 100% sure how waterproof they actually are. I'm gonna have to test these out on a rainy day!

Overall though, I think these are a really great product for the price - only $5.99 for the whole set.

Born Pretty is offering my readers a 5% discount with any order. This offer is valid until December 30th. Just enter the coupon code KH5X61 at checkout! They offer great products like these eyeliners, and lots of other make-up and beauty products as well, all for really reasonable prices.

*I recieved this product for free for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Outfit of the Day: Leopard Costume

Top: Urban Behaviour; Cardigan & Tank Top: Forever 21; Leggings: New Look

I realize that posting a leopard print outfit on this blog isn't exactly new. But this time I'm actually dressed as a leopard for Halloween, and I would never wear leopard on leopard in my daily life, lol. Plus the ears and the face make-up, yeah? :P Anyway, I wore this to work for my Halloween costume on Tuesday and it's probably one of the most glam Halloween costumes I've ever put together.
