Flapper Style

On Saturday night, I went to a 1920's Vegas themed stag&doe with my family. I completely forgot about it until Wednesday night when my sister-in-law texted me asking if I was going to dress up for it. I might have even gone out to put together a totally awesome burlesque costume if I'd had more time, but I put together a pretty good outfit with the limited time I had, I think.

I'm wearing:
Black sequin/lace dress from Sirens;
Black sheer nylons under black fishnets from Forever 21;
Black flower headband from Forever 21;
Pearl/flower necklace from Mexx;
Long pearl strand borrowed from a friend, I think it was part of an actual flapper costume from a costume shop.
Plus you can't see them in the picture, but I just wore a pair of plain black flats from Zellers.

I did my hair with a curling iron, but instead of wrapping the hair around like you'd normally curl hair, I just clamped sections with it, kind of like using a big crimper. And then I pinned it all back to make it look short. I sprayed it all in place so it wouldn't move with Pantene Pro-V Style Texturize! Ultimate Texture Hairspray in Ultra Hold.

A few pictures from the night:

It was a fun night!

Pastel Coloured Hair

I am LOVING the pastel hair-colour trend lately. I love how the colours are unnatural (blue, pink, etc.) but they're so soft that it's not so in-your-face. Here are some of my favourite shades.

Powder blue:

Pale pink:

And especially LAVENDER:

I would TOTALLY dye my hair lavender, or at least the tips or something, if I were allowed coloured hair at work. This is why I need a freelance job where I can work from home/where ever. :P

What's in my Bag?

This is my beloved Guess purse that my parents bought me 2 Christmas's ago. It is still the best bag I've ever had. It's so durable and pretty and big, with lots of room!

It's quite a mess in there, since it has so much space. There are a lot of old receipts and movie stubs and other garbage like that that I should probably clean out.

However, here are the main things/objects of any interest or note.

  • 2011-2012 Calendar/Planner. I really don't even use this. I should.
  • Medicine bag. Contains things such as gravol, ibuprophen, benadryl, and a lipgloss, all of which are essential to have on me at all times.
  • Little Mermaid playing cards. These have come in handy more often then you think, especially when waiting for something!
  • iPod nano. I don't always have it in my purse, but I do carry it with me often enough to include it.
  • Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea scented anti-bacterial hand gel.
  • Little gloves - just in the winter when my hands are bound to get cold!
  • Mini-brush for when the wind messes with my hair, lol.
  • I alwaysalwaysalways carry gum. I am somewhat addicted to chewing gum.
  • My Acer Liquid E cell phone.

  • And my wallet of course! Just got this Guess one this Christmas, to go with my bag. It doesn't quite match but I love it.
Also, I'll often carry whichever book I'm currently reading with me in my purse as well. One of the reasons it's so nice to have a big purse! Lol.

I tend to switch my purse with the seasons, as well as the things that are in it. I will probably do another one of these posts when that happens!

Forever 21 Haul

Forever 21 is my favourite store! Unfortunately, we don't even have one here. Luckily, there is a Canadian online store, and while they don't have quite the wide selection that the American store has, it's still pretty awesome. So I tend to visit http://canada.forever21.com at least once a week, and order new stuff at least once a month. You'd think that would get expensive because of shipping fees, but I make sure to always order over $60 so that I get free shipping! Err.. that probably doesn't mean that I'm saving any money at all. Haha but no really, even when I don't get over $60 shipping is pretty cheap because it's within Canada, and when I do get over $60, I always get lots of stuff because their stuff is such good prices.

Anyway, I went on this morning and couldn't help myself and ordered a bunch of stuff. Here it is.

First thing are these "Basic Cuffed Denim Shorts" in the colour Denim Black, for $12.50.

I have a pair of shorts I bought from Forever 21 last spring that are almost identical, but they are my very favourite shorts and I wore them all summer. They are so comfy. Plus the ones I have are regular denim blue, so I figured why not buy them in black, especially when they're so cheap.

Second is this "Asymmetrical Lace Jacket" in Denim Black, for $27.80.

I am a sucker for anything lace. I liked the jacket when I saw it from the front, but when I saw the back I just HAD to get it.

That is all for the clothes I got this time but the great thing about Forever 21 is that they sell EVERYTHING. And I love their accessories. So, I also got:

"Paisley Pearlescent Stretch Bracelet", $4.80

"F9636 Sunglasses", $6.80

"Forget Me Not Necklace", $3.80

"Sparkling Knit Over the Knee Socks", $5.80

I also bought this nailpolish. I've never tried any of Forever 21's make-up or nailpolish, so we'll see how it is.
"Pearl Wonder Nail Polish", $3.80

A lot of stuff for just over $60 right. :D
