Green Tea Scrub

I have long been a believer in green tea as a remedy. I always drink green tea when I have a cold. I also use a green tea bag on my eye when I have a sty, and it usually helps to drain it within a day, which is awesome because I get sties all the time, and they're annoying when they last very long. I'm always looking for new ways to use green tea.

So when I found out that St. Ives came out with a green tea line, I had to try at least one of the products. I love St. Ives as a brand to begin with - I always use their Apricot Scrub and Apricot Face Wash - definitely my favourite face cleansing products. But I must say that the Green Tea Scrub has replace the Apricot Scrub in my favourites department.

When you squeeze the bottle, the scrub comes out as a green paste. It feels sooo nice on the face, must less abrasive than the apricot scrub. And it leaves your face feeling both clean and refreshed. It's also oil free which is a big factor when it comes to any face products I buy - my face is oily enough and I refuse to buy anything that's going to add extra oil to my face.

The bottle also claims that the product clears breakouts and reduces redness, both which seem to be true. In any case, I haven't had any worse breakouts since using it, or redness either.

All in all, I reccomend this product to anyone looking for a new face scrub, or to anyone who loves green tea.

Speaking of green tea... I had a green tea latte from William's Cafe for the first time a week ago and I'm in love. So delicious. :P

August FAVOURITES!

Alright. I've never done a favourites post before but I really want to start doing them regularly, or at least semi-regularly. My favourite stuff probably won't change all that often so maybe once every couple of months? We'll see how it goes. Anyway, here is my first one, which is obviously for the month of AUGUST, since today is September 1st! (Seriously, August is over already? Sad.)

The first few things are from my recent beauty haul. I promise this isn't just a re-cap of my last post lol. I just love this stuff so much!

Anyway, my first favourite is Urban Decay's Eye Primer Potion. This stuff has definitely become a make-up staple for me. I never knew how much more vibrant and amazing my regular eye make-up could look! And also, it provides serious staying power, and really does prevent creasing and all that. I like how it also works as a concealer. I like to swipe a little of it under my eyes as well as on my lids.

Another Urban Decay product, the De-Slick Oil Control Make-up Setting Spray, has also become a make-up staple for me. You spray this stuff all over your face before you put on any make-up, and again after you're all done. It keeps my face matte better than anything else I've ever tried. It also keeps make-up from melting away from heat and sweat and anything else. I really don't know how I lived before I used this stuff. I have a really oily face and this spray helps SO much.

I spent $50 on this baby, and as much as that pains me, I don't regret it at all. NARS Laguna bronzer & Orgasm blush have been two of the products I've heard the most hype about, and they definitely both live up to the hype. They are just GORGEOUS used together. The bronzer seems like it'll be a good colour to use when I don't have tanned skin, too, but we'll have to wait and see. Anyway, for right now, it's perfect. I love them both so much.
I've been using Rimmel London's Stay Matte Foundation for quite a long time now. I still love it. It's one of the best foundations I've ever used for my skin. Even though I still get oily after a few hours, it does help keep my skin matte for longer than any other foundation that promises the same thing.

I've also been using Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Astringent Toner for Oily Skin for quite some time now, too. I actually just bought my 3rd bottle of it! I love how it lifts excess oil and dirt from my pores, even after I've washed my face and I think my skin is clean. It leaves my skin feeling tingly and tight and has definitely become a must for me, morning and night.

I just recently bought Sally Hansen's Crackle Overcoat in black. Actually, the colour is called "Ink Splatter". I was gonna hold out for the O.P.I version, but didn't want to wait anymore, so when I ran into this in Shopper's Drug Mart, I snatched it up! I really wanted the silver too, but they were all out of that one. Anyway. Love it even more than I thought I would! It looks so great over so many colours. I just wanna try it out over EVERYTHING! Lol. Anyway, I definitely don't regret this purchase.

My last favourite of this month is an entire outfit!

I am seriously in love with everything about it and I just want to wear it every single day! White top & heart sunglasses are from Urban Outfitters, pink tank top from Ardene, and shorts from Forever 21.

That's it for my fashion/beauty favourites for August. Some of my random favourites include watching Toddlers & Tiaras episodes on YouTube (I don't know why! It's such an awful, creepy, crazy show, but I am addicted!), my trip to Toronto the first week of August(!!!), and watching Ingrid (TheGridMonster) and Luke (lukeconard2) vlog every day in August.

Beauty/Make-up Haul - Shoppers Drug Mart & Sephora

HELLO! I have been super MIA lately and I am sorry. I've just had a super busy summer, one of the busiest in my life. For one, I've been in school the entire time, getting some required courses for my psychology degree out of the way (Research Methods & Statistics, if you were wondering). Besides that, I've gone on a bunch of little mini-trips, and parties, and have been going out nearly every weekend. It's been fun! But anyway, to the point of this post. :)

I've been spending a LOT of money lately. And it's bad. But whatever lol. And I've been spending a lot of that money on make-up/beauty products because I've just been feeling like I should own better quality stuff that actually works/stays/etc.
So to start out with, from Shopper's Drug Mart:

I love... Strawberries & Milkshake exfoliating shower smoothie.
I think this was about $5. I don't know, I can't remember, it was a couple weeks ago. Anyway, I just really needed a new body scrub and I wanted something from Bath & Body works but I haven't been able to get over there in a long time, and this just sounded delicious. It really smells amazing. And I like how it's from a squeeze bottle, and not a jar or something like that.

Burt's Bees Naturally Ageless Line Smoothing Eye Cream - $31.
I've been hearing for a long time that I should start using eye cream, since I'm in my 20s, just to prevent future wrinkles. And then my friends were having a discussion about it and I decided to go out and buy one. This one offers not only wrinkle reduction/prevention, but also helps to eliminate puffiness and dark circles, which I do have, so I felt like it was more worth buying since there might actually be visible results. :)

Okay, and now from SEPHORA! I've never shopped much at Sephora before because it has higher brands of make-up and is obviously more expensive than the usual drug-store stuff I buy. But I really wanted some good products and felt like spending the extra cash would be worth it.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion - $23.
I LOVE THIS STUFF. I've wanted it for a while because I heard of how good it was at making eyeshadow colours more vibrant, and preventing them from creasing/fading throughout the day. And it really lives up to all of those promises. You only need the tiniest bit, too. I am definitely devoted to this stuff now.

Urban Decay Lip Primer Potion - $24.
I haven't tried it yet because I ordered it in the mail and my shipment just came yesterday, but if it's as good as the eye primer potion, I know I won't be dissapointed. I've wanted a lip primer for a long time because I love lip stick but it never lasts long enough for me to justify wearing it. By the time I get where ever I'm going, it seems to have come off already. This primer also has an SPF 15 and is supposed to be moisturizing rather than drying. Sounds good to me.

Urban Decay/Skindinavia De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray - $35.
Ever since I heard of Skindinavia sprays, I've wanted the oil-control one. When I saw that Urban Decay teamed up with them and I could get one in my Sephora order, I was so excited. It's like a hairspray for your face. I'm really excited to try this out. I have a serious shine problem and this could be the solution!

  NARS Orgasm Blush/Laguna Bronzer duo - $50
Okay, I can't really believe I spent $50 on bronzer/blush. But it's both of them. And I've always wanted the Orgasm blush. And usually they go for $30 each. Bigger yes, but STILL. I am excited to try these out too and I'm just going to stop thinking about how I spent $50 on them lol.

Lastly; Two-Faced Lash Injection in Pitch Black - $28.
I really needed a new mascara. And I needed an extra purchase to push the $120 free shipping price. Lmao. Seriously though, this is supposed to lengthen and volumize, plus it's waterproof, and it comes off your lashes in little tubes! How cool. I am excited to try it out today. :)

Packing for a Weekend Trip

It's Canada Day weekend, & my parents have rented a cottage in Grand Bend from today until Saturday. So, obviously this is a super short weekend trip away, and there is absolutely no need to pack very much, especially considering I'm going to be spending most of the weekend on the beach. Still, I have a serious problem with overpacking. I really tried not to, but still ended up with a bulging suitcase! I always just think 'what if..?' for so many different situations, and pack way more stuff than I need. Even though I can buy pretty much anything there, and I know I'm gonna be going shopping. =/ Anyway, I did manage to narrow it down a little bit.

To begin with, I'm wearing a pair of denim shorts, a t-shirt, and a pair of flip flops. Also I'm carrying a cardigan with me.
In my suitcase, I packed: 3 pairs of underwear, 1 bra, 2 bathing suits, a bathing suit cover-up, another pair of denim shorts, a tank top, pajamas, & a pair of jeans and a sweater for if it gets cold at night. I also packed a towel, my hair dryer, and my laptop. I had a real hard time deciding whether to bring my hair dryer & straightener, since I do use them both every day, but at the same time, I'm probably only going to be showering there once, and I'll probably be on the beach anyway. So I decided on just the hair dryer. And I know I probably can survive without my computer for a couple of days, but we're also bringing some DVDs for my nephew and I was gonna hook it up to the TV so that he could watch them.

In my toiletries bag, I have: mouthwash; my toothbrush and toothpaste; my glasses, contact case, and contact solution; face wash; deodorant; body lotion; body spray, and a loofah. I didn't need to bring shampoo, conditioner, or body wash because my mom is bringing some full sized ones for everyone to use. As for make-up, I packed: tinted moisturizer, face powder, bronzer, a brown eyeshadow trio, a white eyeliner, a brown eyeliner, a face brush, blush brush, and eyeshadow brush, and a lipstick and chapstick.

And then I have my purse, in which I'm bringing a couple of books and my ipod.

Yup... too much right? :P Oh well.

Been slacking ... =/

Just a general update since I once again haven't made a blog post in forever. I suck at keeping up with this lol. Anyway, I have a couple more outfit posts coming your way, plus my feather extensions finally came in the mail today so how that turns out and my experience with putting those in by myself will be coming soon too. Also, I am going away for the weekend tomorrow and am thinking of making a 'make-up and beauty essentials' post that relates - since I really gotta narrow down what it is I actually use whenever I go away anywhere. I also have a couple products I want to review and post on here so no worries - there is lots to come in the next little while! Look out for all of that + more!

Feather Extensions

I really just love the idea of feather hair extensions lately. It just seems like such a fun way to add some colour to your hair!
You can get these feathers in solid colours or in the grizzly pattern, which are the stripey ones you can see in the picture. I personally feel like the grizzly ones look a lot cooler, but I think the best idea is probably to pair a some grizzly ones with some solid ones for the best look. And of course, you can wear as many or as few as you'd like, and you can wear them on top and make them really obvious, or you can wear them in your under layers so that they only really peek out once in a while.

Obviously there are lots of celebrities with these feather extensions, but I only first really noticed them when missglamorazzi and FleurDeForce from YouTube got them. They both pull it off so well!

At first I wasn't sure if I'd be able to pull them off because I have shorter hair than the people in most of the pictures with them that I've seen. But I started searching eBay and Etsy for some and I found that they do make shorter ones specifically for shorter hair. I still don't know how well I'm going to be able to pull them off, but I ended up buying these ones. They come with 6 feathers altogether, including some natural coloured ones (brown and beige), pink ones, and black & white grizzly ones. They also come with links so that you can put them in your hair yourself. I am so excited for them to come!

Outfit of the Day - 05/20/11 ++

Top: Ardene
(Faux) Leather Shorts: Forever 21

I wore this out on Friday night to a club called Symbol. My friends said that we should all wear shorts so I was all like 'Yeah! I'm finally gonna wear my leather shorts!' cause I've had them for quite some time now but haven't found the opportunity to wear them. Anyway, none of them ended up wearing shorts, but we all still looked good, I think. :P

Oh, also, my bag is a pink sequined clutch from Bentley I think.

I also went out Saturday night. 2 nights in a row is crazy for me. :P

My dress is frommm Sirens I believe, I got in in Florida a couple years ago. I wore it with black ankle booties.

I promise I will start making some real posts soon! I've been crazy busy lately and haven't had time for anything except work, school, and partying apparently lol. But soon!

Haul: Forever 21 & Delia`s

I can't help but to shop a lot once summer rolls around. I just get SO sick of all my winter clothes and can't wait to wear shorts and skirts and cute tank tops. The weather was only nice for about a week though, and now it's raining and cold again. But I have faith that summer will soon be here!

Okay so here is some stuff I got from Forever 21 a couple weeks ago.

Patchwork Woven Dress in Black/Blue. It was $27.80.

And I really felt like my closet was lacking in dresses so I got another one:

Sweetheart Lace Dress in Ivory/Black. It was $29.80.

And the last thing from Forever 21:

Feline Spots Tunic in Brown/Black for $13.50. I actually wore this one out the night that I got it:

Okay so that`s all for Forever 21. But I JUST ordered a few things from Delia`s. I like the store and I like their clothes but I don`t usually buy too much from there because shipping to Canada is pretty expensive. But I got a $20 off code in my e-mail since it was my birthday month, so I figured why not. Turned out that shipping came to $20 itself but that just means I didn`t have to pay shipping right? Better than normal still lol.

Alana Lace Skirt, on sale for $9.99.

Ditsy Denim Short, for $34.50. I really need to stop buying shorts, I`ve already bought so many pairs this year. But these are pretty much exactly what I`ve been looking for, I couldn`t pass it up!

And lastly, 2 tank tops:

Burnout Racerback in Primrose and Grapevine, 2 for $25.

That`s all! Clearly I`ve already spent too much money. But I also have a code for 20% off at Urban Outfitters for my birthday so I might have to take advantage of that too. :P

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day is just around the corner! If you haven't already gotten your mom a gift, it's time to start thinking, because you've only got 3 days left. It's a great day to show your mom (and your grandmothers) just how much you appreciate them - even though you should show appreciation every day, it's nice to do something a little bit extra special on this one day a year.

This year, I got my mom a bathing suit cover-up from La Vie en Rose and a Japanese Cherry Blossom gift basket from Bath & Body Works. I thought the cover-up was a great idea since summer is coming and my mom loves to spend all her time in her bathing suit in the back yard. And Bath & Body works have so many great gift baskets and all of their scents are amazing - it's a great treat to pamper mom!

If you're still stuck for a gift, Shoppers Drug Mart has a great Mother's Day gift guide with everything from beauty products, perfumes, and candles. If you're an online shopper, Amazon.ca also has a whole section of Mother's Day gift ideas, separated into categories such kitchen & dining, electronics, books, movies, and more.

If nothing you've come across seems right - a gift card to her favourite store or restaurant is a great gift. That way you can go shopping together, or have a dinner night out. She'll love that you're treating her, and she'll love spending time with you.

Have a great weekend everyone, and I hope all the mom's have a special Mother's Day!

Holiday Haul: Easter

Yes, I realize that Easter was almost a whole week ago and I have been slacking. But my parents (especially my mom, since she's the one who did the shopping) were awesome and went to Bath & Body Works to get my Easter present!

First thing is this Small Signature Basket in Sweet Pea. I LOVE SWEET PEA SCENTED THINGS.

It comes with a shower gel, body lotion, fragrance mist, bubble bath, mini loofah, and a ladybug air freshener. How cute!

I also got one of these cute Wallflowers also with a Sweet Pea bulb. When plugged in, it makes my whole place smell amazing.
Aside from those awesome things that I'm loving, I of course got lots of chocolate, most of which is gone already. :S And also a gift card to Stitches! Awesome.

Product Comparison - Heat Protectant Sprays

I went for a haircut a few months ago, and the hairdresser informed me that about half of my hair was completely fried from straightening it on a regular basis. I really had no idea on the proper conduct for using heat protectant sprays and such before flat ironing, because I never used a flat iron regularly before I got my current haircut about a year ago. Anyway, she informed me about these sprays and showed me a few products they had there in the store (I get my hair cut at MasterCuts, by the way). I decided to buy one there and then because I wasn't planning on quitting ironing my hair every day.

I ended up getting the Keep It Straight Flat Iron Spray, which cost me about $20. While I have no doubt that it works well to protect my hair from heat damage (I did notice less split ends, and that my hair started to grow a little bit faster), I disliked many things about it. For one thing, it has a very strong smell. While it isn't an unpleasant smell, it seemed overpowering to me. It seemed to take over any other scent I was wearing at the time, and all I could smell all day was this spray. Secondly, it's very thick, and started to build up on my straightening iron within the first use. I know I need to clean it every once in a while anyway, but it was annoying that I had to clean it after every use. And last, this product comes in Medium Hold, and actually makes your hair feel like you're wearing hairspray, which I am not fond of. I do not like the crispy feeling. I ended up buying another product in place of this one, which I will tell you about in a minute. I still do use this from time to time before blow drying my hair - the scent seems to not stick around when I use it that way, nor the crispy hair it causes. I need protection from the heat of the blow dryer anyway, right? ;)

On to the second product - TresEmme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray. I had seen a review of this product on YouTube by one of my favourite beauty gurus, Blair (juicystar07). I also started seeing other beauty gurus reviewing this same product, all with rave reviews, so I went out to Shoppers Drug Mart to buy it right away. This product only cost me around $5 in comparison to the $20 I spent at MasterCuts for the Keep It Straight Flat Iron Spray. I LOVE this product. It isn't thick like the other spray is - it's more like spraying water on your hair than a heavy hairspray. It also doesn't leave a lingering scent. Also, since it isn't so heavy, it also doesn't leave a gross residue on my flat iron - at least, not for a couple of weeks! Huge improvement in my opinion. Plus, it still works great as a heat protectant. Still not getting split ends! I think you guys know which product I prefer here - The TresEmme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray wins.

Essie - Mod Square Nail Polish

So, earlier this week I made the splurge and finally bought myself an Essie nail polish. Well, actually, I already have the Essie matte top coat, but this is my the first actual colour I bought. They ended up being on sale too, so I only paid around $8.75 instead of the usual $10. Anyway, I had SUCH a hard time picking out a colour, there were so many nice ones. Anyway, I ended up choosing a bright Barbie pink called Mod Square. Last night I put it on, and O M G I love it so much. It is the perfect spring colour! And as for the polish itself, I loved the consistency, the brush, how easy it was to apply - everything! I definitely need to go back and get some more colours when I get a chance. I can say it's definitely worth the splurge to spend a little bit of extra money to get better quality nail polishes.

Top 5 Avon Products

I LOVE Avon. I have never personally sold it, but luckily for me, my sister-in-law does! I always get so excited when I get a new catalogue. I love to see what new products there are, and so often there are promotions on my old favourites, which I have so many of. Here are my top 5:

5. Naturals Body Wash

I have had these in SO MANY scents, and they all smell so good. They also lather up really nice on a loofah, and they're just one of my favourite body washes of all time. My all time favourite scent is vanilla, but they're also coming out with limited edition scents all the time which I always like to try out. Currently I have one in Strawberry & Guava.

4. True Color Eyeshadow Quads

These eyeshadows have really great pigmentation and the quad provides you with 4 colours to create a perfectly quardinated smoky look. I have these in Purple Haze, which is shown in the picture, and also in Aquadelic which was a limited edition quad and comes with an aqua blue, sandy beige, coral pink, and dark blue tinted grey.

3. 'Temptations' Body Mist

I love perfume for special events, but for every day use I prefer using body mists that are less overpowering. These smell SO GOOD and I would say they are a little stronger than regular body mists that hardly linger, but still less potent than perfume. I have 2 scents from the 'Luscious' collection - Naughty Orange Blossom (shown) and Ravishing Rose. I've also sampled scents from both the 'Blushing' and 'Romantic' collections, and they all smell so good that I just want all of them!

2. Glimmersticks Waterproof Liners

These eye-liners come in the form of a twist-up pencil, which is my favourite kind of eye-liner - I find that they are the easiest to apply. Also, they are so thin that it's easy to create a nice fine line, or build it up for a thicker line if you want. Glimmersticks also come in regular non-waterproof, but I always prefer waterproof products on my eyes - that way it doesn't wash off your waterline! Also, I am known to be a cryer, and I don't want my make-up all over the place, lol. I have this product in Smokey Grey and Blackest Night.

1. SuperSHOCK Waterproof Mascara

I love Avon mascaras and I always have, and will almost always choose them over any other drugstore mascara. However, this has been the most recent one I've tried, and it beats out all the others. It is lengthening and thickening all in one, and it creates such a dramatic look for your eyes. I love having lashes that stand out without using fake lashes, and this mascara definitely does the trick. This mascara is also available in regular non-waterproof, but like I've said, I prefer waterproof eye products. I own this product in black - I believe it also comes in brown.

Honourable Mention: Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel

I love the selection of colours that Avon offers for their nail polish. Some of my favourite nail colours are from Avon, including Vintage Blue, Urban Grey, and Real Red. However, it didn't make my top 4 because it's definitely not my favourite polish as far as consistency goes, as well as how long it lasts. The consistency of this polish is very thick and it's hard to get a nice thin layer on. It also takes forever to dry. Also, because of the thickness of the polish, it peels off very easily and I can never get it to last on my nails for very long. So even though I love this polish because of the colours that are offered, it is not my top pick for an Avon product.
